About the coffee
We source this coffee from the COOPAGRO cooperative, based in the city of Jaen. This city is in a basin at low altitude, surrounded by many terroirs located all around on the heights. The cooperative is therefore central and surrounded by mountainous production areas. The partnership with Coopagro started in 2016, the following year, Marjorie visited them and shared with a few producers in the area on better agricultural practices and the development of new processes.
KAJWI is a varietal blend of red caturra, red bourbon and typica, the coffee trees are grown between 1200 and 1800 meters above sea level. KAJWI coffee is organic and fair trade certified.
The region of Cajamarca
Jaén is a city located in the Cajamarca region in northwestern Peru. It is a fairly poor region because it is isolated from the major Peruvian agglomerations. Very mountainous area, the main economic resource is agriculture with rice, cocoa, corn, mango, avocado and of course coffee production. There are also many guinea pig farms. Many terroirs overlook the city, such as the Huabal and La Palma central terroirs.
