ABOUT THE COFFEE PRODUCTION
This collective was born in the year 2000, created by a shared dream of a group of coffee growers with a broad vision for the incipient specialty coffee market and for the advancement of coffee growing in the region, thanks to the support of Sr. Fernando Paiva pioneer of specialty coffees in the Campo das Vertentes region since the years, the producers acquired a warehouse and the cooperative was founded. Over time, this infrastructure evolved with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. Since its beginnings the collective has been an important driving force for the development of specialty coffees in the Campo das Vertentes region and participates in initiatives to generate progress and prosperity through the coffee business. The cooperative is engaged in several social and environmental projects to ensure the long-term sustainability of the coffee activity in the region. Today, consistency, innovation, integrity, stewardship and transparency govern the actions of the collective as it seeks to constantly adapt to new market trends and use coffee as a vehicle to create a better life for all involved.
COFFEE REGION
The coffee growing region of Campo das Vertentes is located in the heart of the state of Minas Gerais, approximately 200 km south of the city of Belo Horizonte.
The estimated population of Campo das Vertentes is 546,000 inhabitants and its surface area is 12,564 km², this region has 17 coffee growing districts among them Ritápolis, Candeias, Oliveira and Saõ Francisco de Paula. In the coffee growing districts of Campo das Vertentes more than 38,106 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees, being all of its production of the Arabica species and the most harvested varitals are Mundo Novo and Catuaí. This region ranks 13th in the country’s total production.
